Well this is my first blog entry and we will see how well I do at it, but I was thinking that this would be an easy way for family and friends to keep up with our adventures and daily hum-drum without me having to fill up email inboxes across America.
We had a great time celebrating Isabella's first birthday and loved having all the family in town. Isabella's Aunt Katie and her cousin Gianna were able to make it in for a few days prior and Nick's brother Doug flew in on Friday night to make it for the Saturday celebration. My sister Julia also made it in and her Nonna and Pop-pop (Nick's parents) were also in attendance.

She wore her tutu only because she had a temperature of 103 on the day of her party so her Aunt Julia (the resident nurse) suggested she wear her "birthday suit" for her birthday! She still looked adorable in spite of the fever.
Here is a video from the day:
All our birthday company cleared out by Tuesday but Nick's mom hung around for another week. We had a great visit with Nonna. We were so sad to see her go.

Isabella and her Nonna

Contemplating the world's issues

Too cute not to share with everyone

She has almost mastered walking :) She is working on her running stride now.

Nonna was on the lookout for any babies that might try to run/tumble down the hill on the side of our house.
So we are all settled here in good ol' Villa Rica, GA (pronounced Villa Rick-a...so southern I know). We love our new house and enjoy the comfort that comes with suburbia, but I am also adjusting to being a mom in suburbia. It can be very lonely. I now understand the Desperate Housewives title. :) Luckily I have decided to do something about the loneliness and I am going to check out a gym today that has childcare and I have contacted a moms group here in the area and I am going to a storytime on Thursday and I am hoping to meet some local moms there. I am thinking of starting a stroller walking group in the neighborhood just as soon as I get brave enough to put myself out there. I do absolutely love Isabella and her daily antics. She looks like she got in a serious fight after the number of tumbles she has taken in the last two days. It is a scary thing once they start walking because you can't keep them from hurting themselves. Most of her injuries have come from walls and floors, neither of which I can remove from the house...unfortunately.

You can kind of see her fat upper lip and you can definitely see the scrape on her nose. There is also a faint bruise extending from her forehead to the tip of her nose from when she ran smack in to the corner of a wall....awesome!
