We're off to the see the Wizard...not really, just Kansas.

We headed to Kansas City on August 28th.  Nick left the day before and drove our car full of stuff here and then the kids and I flew in on Saturday.  It was a direct flight from Dulles, but even at 2 1/2 hours it was still pretty awful.  Jack cried practically the entire flight, fell asleep for about 18 minutes and then cried some more.  Thanks to the Mommy Hook we were able to navigate the airport pretty easily, even with the car seat in tow.  We are really excited to be starting a new adventure, even if it is only for 6 weeks.  So far, we love the area. We love our apartment and it seems like every convenience is within 5 minutes of our building, including two of my favorite places to eat, Pei Wei and Chipotle.

Our first week in Kansas we took a trip to the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, spent a day at the Clifford exhibit in the Crown Center, explored Union Station and the Dinosaur and model train exhibits there, and met Nick for a great lunch at a diner featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.  We also visited a couple parks in the area.  It was a busy week.

We also bopped over to the model train exhibit.  It was pretty neat.

We also visited the Clifford exhibit in the Crown Center twice our first week.  It is a free exhibit that is visiting right now.  The kids love it and I must admit it is really fun for kids.

Either the milk didn't come out very fast or the goats didn't drink very fast, but...

Isabella got pretty tired and had to take a rest on a stump.

I almost forgot...we also had cupcakes from Smallcakes, a cupcakery that is only steps from our door and was featured on the Food network.  We gobbled them up so fast there wasn't even much to photograph.

All in all it was a fun first week.  We headed out Saturday for a weekend in Oklahoma City...but that is another post.
